Born and raised in South Tyrol, Italy, climbing was always going to be an obvious pursuit for Angelika. Even from a young age she had a real passion for the outdoors and as a child she regularly hiked with her mother in the mountains of South Tyrol.
Ever since her first alpine fixed-rope route she was hooked, from there she took part in regional, national and international competitions and, after winning the Junior Italian Championships several times, in 2007 she reached one of her career goals by becoming Senior Italian Champion in Ice Climbing.
In 2012 she managed to top her previous successes by winning the 2012 Ice Climbing overall World Cup. On the rock Angelika climbs routes up to 8b+ and completed the first female ascent of the route “Italia 61”, 8a, 250m on Piz Ciavaces in the Dolomites.
Most recently, in 2014, Angelika managed to complete the first female ascent of Clash of the Titans WI10+, in Helmcken Falls Canada. This really set in stone her status as one of the world’s top female ice climbers!
